William Potter: Ooh! It damn well ‘urts!
T.E. Lawrence: Certainly it hurts.
Officer: What’s the trick then?
T.E. Lawrence: The trick, William Potter, is not minding that it hurts.
You can enjoy the time spent in camps with the entire field for the first 4 stages (including one 80-90k stage) and then, after mid-way point rest day, embark with teammate(s) on a non-stop crossing of the final 3 stages across the brutal landscape in a race against other teams. (This final single stage crossing will be approximately 150k)
This is an optional division within the race and meant for experienced desert runners and ultra runners capable of managing themselves and their hydration in a remote desert environment.
Teams of two or more must apply for this crossing and will have to provide a team race resume and short essay of reasons for attempting and qualifications. At least one member of the team must have appreciable desert race experience.
